Abstract

[Machine translation] This essay explores the intertextuality between Alonso Jerónimo de Salas Barbadillo’s comedy Los prodigios del amor (1619) and his versified short story Polidoro y Aurelia (1620). After underscoring the similarities that both texts share from the point of view of the content, I will highlight their main differences. In particular, using the terminology proposed by Genette, I will analyze the formal transformations made by the author in order to rewrite the Neapolitan lovers’ story and adapt it to the grammar of a novella in ottava rima.
