Abstract
This paper is divided into two parts: in the first one, I highlight the editorial and authorial self-propaganda strategies that Lope de Vega adopted in his 1620s’ festival books —i.e., Justa poética y alabanzas justas que hizo la insigne villa de Madrid al bienaventurado san Isidro (Viuda de Alonso Martín, Madrid, 1620) and Relación de las fiestas que la insigne villa de Madrid hizo en la canonización de su bienaventurado hijo y patrón san Isidro (s. e., [Madrid], 1622)— aiming both at consolidating his literary prestige and criticizing his enemies; in the second one, I reveal the identity of one of the interlocutors Lope debated with in the 1622 Relación.
