Abstract
[Machine translation] While the European Union is going through a delicate historical turning point, in which the emergency linked to COVID-19 is based on the prolonged crisis that resulted in the failure of the constitutional project in 2005, the book reconstructs the development of the idea of Europe from ancient to contemporary times. Examining authors and currents of thought of different orientations, the volume identifies the political-cultural humus from which, in the mid-twentieth century, the process of European integration, marked by the alternation of light and shadow, takes shape. And faced with the sovereign ebb at the beginning of the millennium, try to outline the value and institutional framework for a political revival of Europe.
