Abstract

[Machine translation] In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the treatment of chondral/osteochondral injuries in athletes, both because of their high incidence and the frequent disability that ensues. The choice of the correct diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm depends on an accurate evaluation of the patient aimed at identifying not only the cartilage disease, but also any associated injuries (ligament and/or meniscal injuries, limb or extensor system malalignments) that may affect the result of the treatment of the cartilage injury itself. The simultaneous treatment of associated injuries and cartilage injuries underlies the success of the surgical intervention. Since a unanimous consensus on the choice of treatment is not evident, the objective of the work is to carry out a review of the literature by analyzing prospective comparative studies aimed at comparing the results of different methods (palliative, restorative or reconstructive). Finally, a therapeutic algorithm on the management of such injuries is proposed.
