Abstract

[Machine translation] This contribution deals with the medieval Arabic-Latin translation of Aristotle's Metaphysics, what was called Metaphysica Nova (so also here later, regardless of the variety of denominations attested in this regard), and which more recently has also been called Translatio Scoti. Among the translations of Metaphysics, this one — solidly identifiable beyond the editorial adjustments to which the incessant zeal of the editors subjected it over time — is the main one, in several senses. In fact, it is, both from the point of view of its overall impact and from the documentary point of view. Today we want to insist on the latter. In fact, his role in the reconstruction of the textual history of Metaphysics deserves to be elucidated and just #cato, as an exemplary model of linguistic mediation and as a fruitful outcome of that intercultural dialogue whose early study Maestro Mauro Zonta was: this modest intervention of ours is also dedicated to his memory.
