La réception de l’héritage médiéval dans la première modernité : parcours et perspectives de recherche

In recent decades, two facets of this question have been occasionally addressed: on the one hand, the circulation of medieval texts in Early Modernity and the vitality of certain formal aspects of medieval literature; on the other hand, the emergence of historical interest in the Gothic roots of French institutions, literature, and traditions. This article retraces the research paths undertaken in the last few decades around this vast but still relatively neglected subject, by identifying the critical approaches adopted, the fields of investigation studied and the areas that, to date, still need to be addressed.
