Abstract
[Machine translation] The article presents updates to the state of knowledge on early medieval painting in Eastern Switzerland - the ancient Regio della Raetia Curiensis - and examines in detail the pictorial cycle of the chapel of San Benedetto di Malles Venosta in the light of certain iconographic peculiarities that allow us to make well-founded conjectures on the identification of the religious client and the lay client and therefore to confirm the dating to the first twenty years of the 9th century hitherto assumed essentially only on a stylistic basis.
