Finding adequate housing and being able to maintain it is in fact becoming increasingly difficult for a large segment of the population and, in particular, for foreigners. In light of these dynamics, the volume investigates the housing processes of immigrants, exploring not only the area of rent, but also the transition to ownership, including the perverse effects that may follow. Alongside the examination of the more traditional dimensions of economic sustainability and housing conditions, the relationships that are intertwined around the house have also been deepened, starting with those with Italians in their different capacities as owners, brokers, neighbors, inhabitants of the neighborhood. The analysis of these aspects takes shape through the comparison between Romanian and Moroccan families. The comparison reveals several factors capable of influencing housing patterns: family models and gender relations, migration patterns, length of residence and legal status, networks and social capital, methods of entering the labor market and expectations towards public institutions. Living therefore constitutes a privileged point of observation of the inclusion of immigrants that reflects what is happening in other spheres of life and, consequently, represents an extremely articulated object of analysis. Faced with this complexity, the volume closes with an attempt to trace the multiple elements that emerged from the empirical material to a unitary explanatory scheme.
