Abstract
[Machine translation] The story of Kerdon and Manes, slaves of Aretusio, described by Demosthenes illustrates in an exemplary way the legal and economic relationship that existed between the master and his andrapoda misthophorounta, a very important category in the subservient population of Athens. The examination of this case leads to a review of the translation of some verb forms that describe the activities carried out by slaves (μααμαμμμαμμμμμμμμμμμαμμμαμμαμμμαμμαμμαμμαμμμαμαμμμαμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμμαα) and therefore the interpretation of the economic dynamics that characterized this particular case of the use of servile property.
