Abstract

A claim by Kazimierczuk and co-workers to have synthesized the diene 1 by electrochemical vic-dimethoxylation of isatin 2 is wrong. The product is now shown by a careful analysis of spectral data and synthesis to be in reality methyl N-(methoxycarbonyl)anthranilate 3.
