Abstract

[Machine translation] The medical records of the patients visited in the period 2003-2023 at the Center were examined, SVS (AOU City of Health and Science of Turin), identifying those with findings, biological (RB) for genetic-forensic investigations (IGF) (n=1198)., The Judicial Authority (AG) ordered IGF only in 8% of cases (n=92) with a reduction -albeit, not statistically significant - after 2017, year of activation of the National DNA Database, (BDN-DNA). These cases differ in a statistically significant way from those in which, the AG did not require IGF for: higher percentage of unknown attackers (61%) and lower, time interval between visit and violence related to the medical history; more frequent microscopic positivity a, sperm (S+) in intimate samples (41%)., From the data received from the laboratories in charge of IGF (74 cases) it appears that: in 63%, the, genetic profile (PG) compared to ≥ 1 suspect; in 34% there was a match with ≥ 1 suspect and in 12%, genetic exclusion of the only suspect; in 20%, at least one unknown PG was obtained;, in 11% male PGs were obtained even in the absence of S+., The data collected may help to optimize the selection of cases to be submitted to RB and IGF,, also in the light of the new potential of BDN-DNA.
