Abstract

[Machine translation] The relationship between philosophy and religion is a theme congenious to Marcel, who has always worked on the double outline of existence, on the twin image of reality, from which to bring out the secret exchange, as happens in the experience of the threshold, which excludes a substantiated and static stiffening of terms within which we then force ourselves to choose. The threshold value is that of incarnation and corporeality as an invisible point of balance between high and low, between beyond and here, between transcending and grounding. In the incarnation, human and divine manifest a closeness that does not herald total identification; a close distance that never becomes imperishable strangeness.
