Abstract
[Machine translation] Cultural heritage can be understood not only as a set of values worthy of being preserved, but above all as resources to be activated in economic terms and such as to promote local development. This vision, contained in numerous studies on the economics of culture, interprets cultural heritage in a dynamic sense and captures its direct, indirect and relational potential between the individual and the community with regard to common heritage and identity., In contemporary society, the cultural good assumes a new centrality in territorial policies; and for this reason it presents itself as a referent and privileged sign of the process of re-territorialization, which can take place through the creation of cultural itineraries. , The objective of the contribution is to highlight the opportunities and problems that may arise with the enhancement of the heritage of a territory that, from the point of view of current tourist flows, can be defined as “marginal”. The analysis will focus in particular on a portion of North-Eastern Piedmont where the Cluniac sites of Castelletto Cervo (BI), Carpignano Sesia and Ghemme (NO) are located and on the opportunities for local community participation in the tourism enhancement that the recent inclusion in the Network of Cluniac sites of the Council of Europe reserves for these municipalities.
