Abstract
[Machine translation] This volume presents for the first time in international historiography the overall history of the Ukrainian national movement from its origins between the 18th and 19th centuries until today. The research is based both on archival materials and on a very extensive survey of existing scientific literature to provide an overall summary of the evolution of the Ukrainian national movement, contesting teleological readings and considering the nation as a creation of the historical process and not an a priori fact.
