Abstract
[Machine translation] In this essay the author reflects on the obstacles to the substantial equality between men and women. She focuses not so much on so-called “glass ceiling, which prevents women from reaching top positions in politics, culture or economics, but on what she calls the stone steps” of gender equality: that is, the obstacles that affect every woman, every day, starting from the asymmetrical distribution of family work, domestic and care. She reflects on private and public impacts of these barriers, and possible social policies necessary for the pursuit of greater equality between men and women, paying attention to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for Italy.
