The focus is shifted from, from objects to cultural subjects belonging to communities, able to recognize the values of which it carries, but also to recognize the values of which it carries, but also to link the resources of heritage to identities, which constitute the evolutionary engine of social life. This is especially true for small towns and inland areas, even along the Alps, where a mosaic of territorial projects based on renewed forms of governance., Starting from this evidence, the research explores the relationship between cultural heritage and tourism development in some Alpine areas, with the aim of showing how cultural heritage can have an impact on local dynamics and organization, when it is experienced and represented in a creative and participatory environment such as, expression of a living community. The result is a qualitative approach that can be useful both from the point of view of protection and enhancement policies, and from the wider one of governance and tourism from below., The need to combine global and local, exogenous and endogenous, leads to a renewal of ideas and methodologies for approaching heritage, in a very stimulating glocal dimension. In the era of Covid, it emerges that slow, local and sustainable tourism - on which efforts to overcome the crisis converge - is based on the cultural background that, which constitute diffuse and minor assets. Given the growing importance of cultural heritage and community tourism in the Alpine scenario, geographical studies have multiplied, also implemented in an interdisciplinary perspective, aimed at understanding the governance, planning and design processes that the pandemic contributes and forces us to remodel. In this context, the term heritography was conceived. It includes two domains - heritage and geography - that are mutually complementary and capable of expressing the ambivalent relationship between the two terms. Methodologically used as an analytical filter, it allows us to outline a new organizational physiognomy also with reference to organizational physiognomy also with reference to social, cultural and tourist dynamics. Adopting this point of view, the research presents some cases related to participatory governance paths and experiences conducted within small communities along the Alps. They make it possible to show some concrete results in terms of places where resources and people have become an expression of identity and design force. These cases can represent good practices based on a profound dialogue between communities and institutions in a logic of reappropriation of the past and of sustainable sharing of the future.
