Abstract

[Machine translation] The phenomenon of occupied spaces in their diversification of objectives (squats for housing purposes, social centers for counter-cultural production, etc.), and of political-ideological affiliation, represents an important aspect of the social and political landscape of various Italian cities. Since the late 1970s, with different phases and evolutions, in fact, the occupation of spaces and buildings of different types represents a particular form of urban mobilization and conflict that intertwines and interacts with other movements, conflicts and tensions affecting cities. Urban conflict dynamics often come into connection with practices, discourses and organizational structures related to conflict dynamics and mobilizations on a larger scale (state or transnational)., Analyzing the reality of occupied spaces, reconstructing the evolution of practices, discourses and organizational dimension during the last 3 decades, evaluating the relationships of these experiences with other political and social actors active in the urban territory, therefore represents a crucial cognitive activity to contribute to a better understanding of the social and political transformations affecting different cities. This seems particularly important in the case of Naples: first, for the relevance of informality in the urban development of the city; secondly, for the important transformations, and conflicts, carried out by the redevelopment projects that have affected the Neapolitan city since the 80s; finally, focusing on the most recent socio-political processes, an analysis of the reality of Neapolitan occupied spaces is particularly useful considering the importance given by the current municipal administration to the issues of participation popular and the defense of 'common goods' for urban governance., The proposed chapter, in a first part, intends to provide a general mapping of the occupied spaces present in the territory of the city of Naples. Subsequently, after a selection according to criteria of relevance and representation, of some of the main Neapolitan occupied spaces, it will focus on an analysis of the respective practices, discourses and organizational dimensions, with particular attention to the relationship of the selected subjects with the different territorial areas, socio-political actors and themes, basing the analysis on a Laclausian approach to the construction of the political subject.
