Abstract
[Machine translation] 'epistemology (also called philosophy of knowledge or gnoseology) is the philosophical discipline that studies how human beings relate from a cognitive point of view to the reality that surrounds them. The fundamental issues that concern her are mainly of a regulatory nature. They concern how we should regulate our beliefs in the light of the information in our possession, and the nature of human knowledge and its limitations. This chapter is organized accordingly. The first section deals with the notion of epistemic justification, the second that of knowledge, and the third introduces the philosophical problem of skepticism.
