Abstract

The Hp^1S, Hp^1F and Hp² gene frequencies were studied on 606 individuals (441 from Continental Italy and Sicily, and 165 from Sardinia). The Hp subtypes were determined with a modified procedure. The heterogeneity found between the different geographic areas are discussed.
