Abstract
[Machine translation] This article presents the history of two Ukrainian student organizations in the United States, the New York Ukrainian Students Hromada (Community) and the Committee for the Defense of Soviet Political Prisoners. Founded between the late 60s and the beginning of the 70s, these two groups reveal the different conception of the national belonging of the second generation of the third wave of Ukrainian migration to America. The action of these groups has had a strong transnational dimension, able to attract groups of young Ukrainians also to other countries and reveals the influence that dissidents in Soviet Ukraine have had on the development of the movement for the defense of human rights in the West.
