Abstract
«What do men live on?». Capitalism, democracy and the digital revolution from the Singapore case In the era characterized by the crisis of the global neoliberal order that arose on the ashes of the Cold War, the essay reflects on the failed promises of that turning point and its connections with the dynamics triggered by the digital revolution. From this perspective, the analysis of the case of Singapore is particularly interesting, since it
focuses on an Asian city-state which paradigmatically shows typical trends of our time: the overcoming of classical ideological traditions; the primacy of a technocratic pragmatism; a considerable trust in digital technologies and their application to society; the risk of a new authoritarianism based on the abuse of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.
