Design of Contrast Agents for Molecular Imaging In Vivo

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

The outstanding achievements in molecular and cellular biology are continuously providing new information on the factors determining the cause and the progression of the most important diseases. In this scenario, a new field has emerged, i.e., molecular imaging that pursues the in vivo visualization of molecular events occurring at cellular and subcellular level [1]. The possibility of visualizing a molecule that represents the signature of a given disease is an outstanding breakthrough in the diagnostic protocols currently followed in clinical settings.
