Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

[Machine translation] The volume deals with a topic that is not present in Italian sociological literature in the field of childhood diseases, namely the management of chronic diseases at school, with the aim of providing an analysis of the factors that may facilitate, or hinder, its management, especially in view of the complex collaboration required between services (school and health) and different actors (families, boys, girls, school and health personnel). , Through the results of field research based on the perspective promoted by New Childhood Sociology, the authors bring into dialogue the point of view of children and teenagers suffering from type I diabetes or asthma with those of adults who are involved in the disease management process (parents, school and health personnel), paying attention to the regulatory, organizational and relational constraints and resources that structure the practices and experiences of living with chronic illness at school. The analysis of the methods of collaboration between the school system, families, children and teenagers and health services highlights how these are based on a division of tasks and responsibilities that are not always clearly defined, very often implicit and informal, and frequently taken for granted.
