Abstract

[Machine translation] The thesis seeks to answer some questions concerning the function, social composition and political weight of the Chamber of Accounts of Piedmont in the modern age, focusing research on the second half of the 17th century. It deals with the study of the administration of the Piedmontese territories constituting the Savoy States: territories in which different practices existed, which an institution such as the chamber one aimed to approve. Through the design and creation of new offices, the extraordinary effort that the government was trying to make to create a ruling class more loyal to the dynasty and a people less intolerant to ducal measures emerges., The social origin of its members is as varied as a historian can imagine: nobles of ancient lineage and very recent, merchants, bankers, the wealthy, favorites of the sovereign who have suddenly fallen out of favor. After the state of the art, there is a chapter dedicated to the history of the Chamber of Accounts and its important archive. , The history of the Savoy Chamber is traced from its origins to the end of the Old Regime, and ends with the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy and with the establishment of the Court of Auditors. The only historian of the modern age who dealt with the Chamber of Accounts, limited to that of Savoy, was the Savoyard master auditor François Capré, who published the story dedicated to it in 1662. The only Piedmontese who tried his hand at such an enterprise, as far as the Turin Chamber was concerned, never completed his work, which came to us in the form of a brogliaccio and in the appendix to this study there is a critical edition with philological apparatus.
