Abstract

Graphitic and amorphous coke deposits on Pt/Al₂O₃ catalysts are evidenced by HRTEM. Their interaction with the metal phase and the support is studied by the spectra of CO adsorbed at 300 and 77K. A band due to liquid-like CO stabilized on coke at 77K is observed at 2136 cm⁻¹.
