Abstract
[Machine translation] The climate emergency and attention to the use of the planet's scarce environmental resources, together with the progressive importance of an increasingly circular economy, influence the development dynamics of contemporary cities and metropolises., Global warming requires the adoption of policies to reduce emissions, the abandonment of the philosophy of linear economy in favor of circularity, a level of 'climate-altering' emissions much lower than the current one and an increasing local production of goods and clean energy. With the definition in 2015 by the United Nations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the European Union and included in the new Urban Agendas, a path of change is outlined for cities. From an urban perspective, the adoption of more coherent models, the pursuit of environmental targets and the use of “disruptive” technological solutions, which have a significant impact on urban planning, are essential., The contribution aims to present some reflections on the contemporary city with reference to literature and in-depth reports on the subject and with particular attention to the Italian case.
