Abstract
[Machine translation] The cause of the contract has traditionally been at the center of the doctrinal debate, with different conceptions registered in this regard that, starting from the identification of the notion of cause, have intended to attribute to it a specific role in the theory of acts of private autonomy. The paper, after considering the most accredited reconstructions on the subject of the cause and noting the need to distinguish the notion of cause as an economic-individual function from that of a concrete cause, clarifies that it is to the latter that effective law has most recently shown to adhere.
