Abstract

The contribution is a critical review of Jonathan Gilmore's "Apt Imaginings. Feelings for Fictions and Other Creatures of the Mind", that revolves around a fundamental question which haunts both the philosophical and the psychological debate about fiction, that is whether and how our psychological reactions to fictional objects differ from those elicited by real-world experiences. The review summarizes the volume and raises three points of concern about its fundamental claims.
