Abstract
Belardo, el furioso presents the typical features of a chamber courtisan dramatic practice in which Ariosto's verses function as the main paradigm for both intertextuality and autobiography used by Lope for his own propaganda. The most important thing, in a critical perspective, is not only to establish that this play is not the first step of the rich textual repertoire leading to La Dorotea, but to understand to what extent Ariosto is deeply related both to Lope's lyric myth and to his dramatic writing.
