Abstract
[Machine translation] This contribution takes up and deepens a study — published, in 2012 — on the role played by Earth sciences in the “Giornale de' Letterati d'Italia, ” and on the complex web of practices, relationships and conditioning that directed the, editorial choices of the periodical, which prioritized certain themes and authors to the disadvantage of others., The analysis, conducted on some exemplary cases, offers food for thought on the importance, to investigate the passage — often painful and contradictory — between research and editorial product,, for greater awareness of the many cultural, political, economic and social factors, that conditioned the evolution of geological disciplines and, more generally, the company, science of the modern age.
